Artist's Biography
Buddy is a contemporary custom design mosaic tile creator who has been on display at Art Festivals and by appointment. Buddy placed works in 5 states in 2017 and has provided donated works to various Animal Rights and Adoption Organizations as fundraisers on request.
Buddy received many specialized awards and commendations while in the United States Army, Arizona and Massachusetts National Guards and as a computer programmer at the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory at the Harvard Center for Astrophysics in Cambridge Massachusetts.
The entirety of Buddy's tile and mosaic career came at the knee of his Sicilian grandfather while on side jobs cleaning up and doing odd jobs - these current works are a testament to his grandfather.
Artist's Statement
My work explores the dichotomy between my subject's human qualities depicted in hard ceramic and glass tile while keeping the softness of their unique facial expression and the deepness of their souls through their eyes evident.
I don't set out determined to produce art about any given subject. I take my cues from my own imagination and inspiration and from people I meet as they tell me which kind of mosaic they'd like, from gargoyles to butterflies on sunflowers to rock and roll icons to Old Hollywood starlets.
During production new areas of interest arise and lead to the next body of work.
